Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. If you receive an Error when trying to update MBAM it could be because you do not currently have an Internet connection or a malware has changed your connection settings so that you are using a proxy server, etc, etc.
If you are infected witk Malware you may be re-directed to other websites, in which case all of the above has to be donw in Safe Mode with Networking. I do not have that problem with either of those Programs, so it would seem that you are being re-directed by Malware to install a different Program.
I have nothing further to add then, as you are not prepared to use Safe Mode with Networking to install and scan your System either. Thought I should let you know that everything is now working fine.
Deleted and then reinstalled IE 10 and that seems to have done the trick, works a lot faster too. Whoops, seems I was wrong as that little swine of a tick is back in the box again. Will try what you suggested and will advise results. Since I asked for help in removing the proxy server, which was causing me quite a great deal of problems,I have been searching high and low for a solution which I failed to find on this forum.
If anyone else is having the same trouble of being unable to remove their proxy server then I would suggest they look in the "Programs and Features" and see if there is a program named "sysTPL" and uninstall it and the problem is solved. Came across this solution in one of Microsofts solution centres and found a great many were having the same problem I had, proxy server failing to respond and even though the proxy box was unticked it still returned when next booted up.

Then uncheck ' Use a proxy server for your LAN '. Maybe then it can work. Moreover , if you have any firewall or proxy software like Hotspot Shield , Ultrasurf , Spotflux etc. Hope it works! Lost count on the number of times gone through this routine. Bill Smithers Volunteer Moderator. In reply to denwilliam's post on August 16, Hi, Strangely enough, some Malware will alter your settings to a Proxy Server in that box.
Read this and do a Scan with Malwarebytes; download link there. In reply to Bill Smithers's post on August 16, Thank you for your suggestion but not prepared to accept all the bits and pieces that come with it but will try and find something on the same lines that has less passengers. What bits and pieces? It involved downloading and installing two Programs to remove possible Malware. If you have Malware installed, you have to remove it.
That is your choice if you are not prepared to follow the advice given here. Good luck. It wanted to add another toolbar and change my home page, those are the bits and pieces I refuse to accept. In reply to denwilliam's post on August 17, I do not know where you are being re-directed to.
If ANY Program ever offers you extras you uncheck them. But this is the Program that you download and use to scan for Malware. And Rkill will stop the Malware process while you scan to remove it.
